Bugattio Veyron

The Bugatti Veyron is now today the fastest, most powerful, most expensive fully street legal, road registered production car in the world. This is the ultimate supercar made by Volkswagen yes Volkswagen are the creators of the Bugatti Veyron.

 

 The Bugatti Veyron first made its appearance back in 1999 at the Tokyo Motor Show as a concept car, but it wasn’t until 2005 again at the Tokyo Motor Show that a full production model was first shown. It has been reported that even though the Bugatti Veyron sells for about $2,000,000 US the actual production cost is well above this figure.

So why would Volkswagen build a car that loses money? Because the car was developed as a test bed for future technology and as an exercise in engineering so it remains to be seen weather Volkswagen will make money if the technologies in this car will be used in future mass produced vehicles.

 The specifications for the Bugatti Veyron read like an engineers wet dream, the Bugatti Veyron is powered by a W16 engine which is basically two V8’s sandwiched together in a W configuration giving you 16 cylinders hence the W16 name. Due to the narrow configuration it only requires 4 camshafts to operate the 4 valves per cylinder giving a total of 64 valves.

 With 4 turbochargers providing the boost this beast throws out a massive 1001hp with peak torque a stump pulling 922 ft lbs, all this fed thru a dual clutch into an computer controlled 7 speed manual gearbox (operated via paddles on the steering column), then into the all wheel drive to get all that power to the ground.

Keeping things cool the Bugatti Veyron has 10 radiators, 3 for engine cooling, 2 for the air con,1 as a heat exchanger for the air to liquid intercoolers on the turbos, then 1 each for transmission, differential, engine and hydraulic oils(hydraulics used for rear spoiler which raises and lowers according to speed).
 

Let’s now look at the Bugatti Veyrons performance, top speed is guaranteed to be 400kmh (249mph), an official top speed of 407.5kmh (253.2mph) was achieved twice at Volkswagens Ehra-Lessien test track.On the show Top Gear James May said of this test when close to top speed “the tires will only last for about 15 minutes,but its ok because the fuel runs out in 12".

 The Bugatti Veyron is also the quickest accelerating production car in history, reaching 60mph in 2.46 seconds with 200 and 300kmh (124 and 186mph) done in 7.3 and 16.7 seconds.

But this comes at a price with fuel consumption in the range of 5 to 10 mpg, but at full throttle the Bugatti Veyron gets 2.1mpg,which means it would empty its 100 litre (26.4 gallon) fuel tank in about 12.5 seconds.

Just before I finish here is a little story I read about Englishman Kumar Soni who had been on the waiting list to receive his Bugatti Veyron for over a year and had only had it a week when he handed his keys to his brother Ajay. Well Ajay of course did the obvious and spun the Bugatti Veyron 3 times and put it into a ditch resulting in the worlds most expensive write off. The moral of the story do not let anyone drive your Bugatti Veyron.

EB 16.4 Veyron Sang Noir

Bugatti are showing little restraint in their eagerness to specialize the Veyron. First we had the PurSang, then the Hermes and now the Sang Noir. It'€™s a darkened version with a completely black exterior.


Ralph Lauren was the first to blacken out his Veyron, but this edition goes much further. Like the Pur Sang, its central body panels are bare carbon fiber. Inside is a high-contrast tangerine interior with black-piano lacquer panels.

With three special edition Veyrons now in production, it'€™s clear that the original personalization program was far too limited. These few cars will set a standard that every owner will want.

Bugatti compare the new Sang Noir to the Type 57 Atlantic which was limited to a production of three examples. One of these sensational cars will debut at Pebble Beach later this year fresh from a Paul Russel restoration.

2010 Bugatti Sports Cars Veyron from Mansory by Linea Vincero d’Oro

This one-off super car tune job by Mansory is perfect for the individual with nearly inexhaustible wealth. The Mansory Linea Vincero d’Oro version of the Bugatti Veyron adds a carbon fiber aerodynamics kit and gold details on the grille, the tires, the door handles and gas tank. The interior is equally accented in gold color, but the rest of this beast is all Bugatti sports cars.

Along with such gaudy monstrosities as the Pepto-pink Bentley and the Polo Sport-on-acid Porsche Panamera, Mansory has modified the Veyron sports cars with the Linea Vincero range of accessories, including a full aero kit and highly polished carbon-fiber body panels that include copper threads interwoven into the material for even more flash.

MANSORY manufactures almost all the components in the car’s body from ultra-light, high-strength carbon and the autoclave method of hardening under high pressure and high temperatures used during the manufacturing process makes a huge improvement to the quality of the materials. One unique feature of the design of the LINEA Vincero d’Oro is the carbon fabric with inbuilt copper thread used by MANSORY, the metallic sheen of which really brings out the exceptional nature of this special sports cars.

The sideskirts have also been remodelled, as to offer a more stunning look. To give the engine optimal cooling, Mansory has created larger air outlets to the side and rear of the Veyron. The diffuser has also had some work done, as to help with the handling of the sports cars.

Mansory and LINEA Vincero previously introduced a Bugatti sports cars with visual and performance upgrades that cost an extra $985,776 – on top of the sports cars.
